Since January 1985, Preferred Care, Inc. ("PCI") has been providing effective health care cost containment services to clients in Pennsylvania as the first independent PPO to be state approved.  We were the first PPO plan to be marketed in Philadelphia and Southeastern Pennsylvania through agents and brokers.  It was then and continues to be a freedom of choice plan, NOT one of the limited choice plans.

• Over 12,000 providers in Southeast Pennsylvania and nearly 90% of hospital beds are readily available to PCI insureds.  With PCI and our logo on the card, participating providers recognize and honor the PCI commitment to provide their professional health care services and attention. 

• Nationally and regionally over 10,000 facilities and over 300,000 primary care physicians and specialists are available to PCI  insureds.  PCI has over 30 agreements with other PPOs around the United States making providers available everywhere from Alaska to Florida, and Hawaii to Maine.

• Quality assurance standards such as NCQA, JCAH and equivalent standards are used by Preferred Care to select and qualify providers to participate in the PCI network.

 PCI as a PPO primarily serves three clients:

1. Payors including insurance carriers, employees, and third parties.

2. Insured employees and their dependents covered by insurance plans agreeing to use PCI's medical providers.

3. Medical providers, doctors, hospitals, and ancillary providers contracted with PCI agreeing to provide quality healthcare at fair reimbursement levels.

Since our beginning, we have identified PCI as "The Innovative Health Care Delivery Solution".  We believe that responsible medical services management by all providers in cooperation with plan design and Payor Managers provides the winning combination to assure appropriate quality, medical services and reasonable, effective cost containment.
